Mud Pie Maths!

In English this week we have been reading the story of ‘Wombat goes Walkabout’.

wombat goes walkabout

What animals has Wombat met so far? Which one is your favourite and why?

Some of you performed a section of the story this afternoon, I loved it! You read and acted out each character beautifully. I loved the boys original song that was performed too – you are all very creative!

In Maths we have been learning about capacity and using the words ‘full’, ’empty’, ‘half full’, ‘nearly empty’ and ‘nearly full’.

This afternoon, we used our knowledge of capacity to make Wombat’s favourite meal, mud pie!

They were very detailed and we had to follow them very carefully. We used non-standard measurements such as cups, bottles and jugs.

We worked hard as a team and took it in turns to pour, mix and stir the ingredients. Our first mud pie didn’t look too tasty but we learnt from our mistakes and the second one was fit for a very special Wombat!

  1. Katherine loved the Emu the best because it runs and runs! She loved the wombat as he says that he thinks a lot and digs a lot!
Katherine also just told me her dinner plate is now nearly empty! 😊
