Another busy week!
This week we have been introduced to Hamlet, this is the focus of our English theme this term and we have enjoyed being introduced to parts of the story.
Earlier in the week, we were very excited as some objects were revealed to us from a box. We didn’t know what these objects were but eventually we found out that they belonged to someone very special! We had a picture of each object and we labelled it using some exciting vocabulary. We have been doing lots of drama this week and looking at feelings and emotions. There are a lot of themes in Hamlet, love, power, marriage, revenge and tragedy so we have been exploring what these words mean. Today, we had a go at portraying some emotions using our bodies, then we looked at a picture of Hamlet and decided how he was feeling. When we had thought about his feelings, we placed them in order of importance in relation to Hamlet. This was really tricky but we worked really hard and we were amazed at how well you understood the words and their meaning, well done!
In other news this week, we have been using addition in maths, to add two 1 digit numbers together, then to challenge ourselves we began adding a 2 digit number to a 1 digit number! We used lots of resources to help us, including drawing pictures and Numicon shapes before trying more challenging abstract sums.
Finally, to finish off a great week today we welcomed the Digital Leaders into our classroom who taught us how to use micro:bits. We used the devices to log on, find the internet symbol then they taught us how to make the micro:bit lights flash, words appear and even play music! It was all very exciting and a great end to the week 🙂
Well done Matilda Class for an enjoyable week. Enjoy your weekend!
Miss Gedney 🙂
P.S. A polite reminder that as we are going outside for PE on a Thursday, we need to wrap up warm. We do get hot when running around however please ensure we have a tracksuit top and joggers in PE bags and if possible, trainers.
